For once, Siskel and Ebert completely miss the message of a movie.

Film wasn’t the right medium for Kauffman. He thrived off a live audience.

The moose lines were hilarious! The theme song is really super nostalgic for me. I was really young when this came out, and am not sure if I saw it at all, or maybe on a network TV airing instead of in theaters. I definitely knew about it from a young age because I can't remember a moment in my life when I didn't know this movie existed, LOL.

Just shows why critics are useless and dumb. This is my favourite ST movie. I love how it depicts the fear from the unknown, how I can experience what it is like to meet a real alien. I love how it does not rush, does not include battle scenes just for the sake of it, I love how humans acts and feel like humans, and so on. The world is not 2 bits, not just black and white. Movies can be made about anything, not just those handful of genres, feelings, actions... Critics are okay to exist, but they should never forget that theirs are only one specific opinion, and they shall always alert the reader viewer of this.

I don't get the racism charge. A lot of professional fighters are black. Statistically, who is most likely to be his next opponent/challenger?

Honestly Gene is FULL of bad takes. When separated from Roger, he's just a snob who doesn't understand the purpose of a lot of the films he reviews. We like him because of his banter with Roger.

So if Gene didn't like the last few previous James Bond films, he's saying "The Spy Who Loved Me" isn't good? That's just crazy. But "For Your Eyes Only" was indeed a great Bond film.

Not to speak ill of the dead...but if a movie was not Terms of Endearment or other touchy kind of chick flick, Ebert never liked it.

Moonraker was a blast start to finish. I wonder what the "other" film was that Siskel was going to suggest in order to kill two and a half hours in summer at the movies. As much fun as Moonraker? I doubt it.

Not everything can be Star Wars tho'. Buck Rogers, Galactica, Star Crash, Message from Space, Flash Gordon, all nowhere near as good as Star Wars obviously but all still a lot of fun, and this 70s kid loved them then and I still do.

Disagree Henry Fonda & Katherine Hepburn are the weakest more pathetic leads justyfying being shyte parents to daughter Jane Fonda, her new boyfriend Dabney Coleman and his son. Critics way after saw tis in 1982 got all wrong, the parents were dickheads all along and self pitying because of age and health. Be a better person younger when having children or dont have at all. Just tripe

Makes me laugh the way these two old farts have been deified by the screen-watching fraternity of the good ol' US of thingy. The two from the Muppets had far more intertesting things to apply to a performance. The fact that the gimp is constantly referring to Sellers rather than the actual character highlights his lack of value.

I rented _Apocalypse Now_ from Blockbuster Video back in 1988, and I still think it is one of the greatest, most brilliant films ever made. Not everything about it has to make sense. As Francis Ford Coppola himself said about it, "This film isn't _about_ Vietnam. This film _IS_ Vietnam." Perfectly well-said. *P.S.:* What if I told you that _Apocalypse Now_ was the film debut of Laurence Fishburne, then billed as Larry Fishburne? He was 15 years old when this film was made. Let that sink into your heads a bit.

I can see both their points here but I will definitely disagree with Gene Siskel here about Ricky Schroeder. Forget about the blinking, I think that was an amazingly mature and emotional acting performance on his part at such a young age (he was 9 years old).

The writing missed a very big opportunity with the argument of theirs from 3:10 - 3:25. Up till then their roles are reversed with Barbra acting like a typical male chauvinist manager of a female model or ingenue and Ryan O'Neal in the put-upon female role. Ryan O'Neal calls her out for it by saying, "What do you think I am? A piece of meat? What do you think I am, a girl?!" At that moment, Barbra should have stopped him with a finger to the chest and responded back with, "EXACTLY. Now you know how we women feel." That would have been perfect. Unfortunately, the writer, for whatever stupid reason, completely missed-out on that opportunity to make a profound social point. 👎🏻
